What is a Diploma of Health Science?

The Diploma of Health Science is a versatile one-year degree offering foundational knowledge in biological and social sciences. With a range of electives and specialisations available in public health, naturopathy, nutrition, Chinese medicine and more, you can tailor your study to fit your career goals.

Throughout the course, you will learn how the human body functions as well as core concepts in chemistry and evidence-based practice. Jump straight into the workforce with this qualification or pursue further study in Natural Therapies or Public Health through our pathways program.

Industry partners and work placements

You will have the opportunity to complete a Work-Integrated Learning placement in a sector and organisation of your choice. This placement will help you to establish a connection with the industry and help you to prepare for employment opportunities upon graduation. Upon graduation, you are eligible to attain Associate Membership with the Complementary Medicine Association (CMA).

Work placement hours

A placement is not compulsory, however we recommend you obtain 20 hours of work in the industry during your study. This will help to inform your course progression, understand career options and establish connections, giving you an advantage as a graduate.

Before you begin your application to study as a domestic student, check that you meet the requirements listed below.

Year 12 (Australian secondary school certificate) or equivalent.

Vocational qualification (AQF Level 4), or above

Successful completion of a Higher Education qualification.

Work and life experience that demonstrates skills and knowledge gained through paid or unpaid employment, formal learning and/or non-formal learning (presented on a current resume with attached cover letter).

Fees

Fee payment

Course fees can be paid across three study periods. Each instalment to be paid before the beginning of the academic stage census date.
