An interview with Helena Keenan

Spa Training Manager
Voyages

What is your position at Voyages?
My title is Spa Training Manager. It is a Group role and I am responsible for training the spa staff on all seven properties in the use of Sodashi Product and the menu of services at each spa. I also assist in the implementation of customer service standards and recruitment.

What can ACNT graduates expect when starting work with Voyages?
The Voyages ethos is to offer holiday experiences that nurture body, mind and soul. They do this by specialising in resorts or lodges that are located in remote and natural environments allowing guests to experience all the natural beauty that Australia has to offer. Hence, our spa menu reflects this with a focus on pampering and relaxation.

Where can they work?
Our spa facilities are located mainly along the Eastern seaboard of Australia beginning at Heron Island and moving up to Brampton Island, Dunk Island, Bedarra Island, Silky Oaks Lodge (in the Daintree Rainforest), and Lizard Island. Lastly but not least we have a beautiful facility at Cradle Mountain Lodge in Tasmania.

What is the quality of ACNT graduates?
ACNT graduates meet with the very high standards expected of our staff. They always demonstrate a good understanding of what is needed when working in a hospitality environment with a strong customer service focus.

What are the career prospects for graduates?
For those who are interested in furthering their career within the spa industry, working within the Spa Division of Voyages is a wonderful way to get a solid grounding in their practice as a therapist but also to gain a strong knowledge in business management. For those who demonstrate the right leadership qualities there are career paths within Voyages to move up to Spa Superviser and eventually to Spa Manager. This experience once gained can take you anywhere.
